Why a labia correction?
There is little talk about labia, and yet labia corrections, labia reductions or vagina corrections are increasingly requested at our health centre. This is often because of psychological or aesthetic complaints, such as general dissatisfaction with the vagina, being bothered by the shape or size of the labia minora, often due to ageing or after pregnancy. Sometimes, it is also for practical reasons, such as discomfort caused by a large labia while wearing tight clothes or bathing suits, cycling or performing other physical activities.
Labia correction of large and small labia
We can perform either an inner (small) or outer (large) labia correction. A labia reduction or labia correction of the labia minora is most commonly requested. This procedure can improve genital appearance as well as improve mental or emotional self-confidence.

During the labia correction, the plastic surgeon removes the excess labia tissue with electrocoagulation. This immediately closes all blood vessels and causes little blood loss. The wound is then sutured with soluble thread to speed up recovery.

The protruding inner labia can also be shortened under local anaesthesia by marking and cutting away the protrusion. You can go home the same day.

After the procedure, you will experience zero to moderate pain.

Strict hygiene is necessary: the intimate area should be rinsed regularly with an antiseptic, and an antibiotic ointment should be applied for one week.

Because of the ample circulation in the labia, infections rarely occur.
